As young professionals in our community, we have myriad chances to make a difference in others’ lives, but potentially none greater than the difference we can make with kids. After all, it hasn’t been that long since we were all struggling with figuring out what to do with our lives (and, truth be told, many of us still struggle). SYP has an opportunity to help with the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce’s Business Education Program– a program designed to bring business to the schools so that children and teenagers can become more aware of what the business world is like.
As SYP we have been asked to be involved at the ground level. Our very own Erika Miller will be heading up the SYP Kids Committee, which will research and design a speakers bureau for the Mount Vernon High School as well as recruit tutors for all ages. Speakers will go through training and will then speak to teenagers on topics related to their business, such as marketing, finance, insurance, sales, etc.
